STEP TWO
Your Vision
Start with your dream in mind
- Ideas: what would you like us to carve for you?
- If there is one word to describe your ice carvings,
what would it be?
- How big do you want your ice carving?
- What is your color scheme for lighting, if it applies?
- What is your budget for the ice carving?
Your Budget
Create a budget that is practical
When creating your ice carving budget keep in mind that the total cost depends on
the following:
- Size
- Degree of difficulty
- Quantity
- Delivery
- Lighting
- Set-up and take-down
An example
In the industry, a good starting budget for a one-block ice carving of say, an elegant
swan or love birds on a heart (considering all the points and additional services
mentioned above) will be around $ 450. It will measure about 10" x 20" x 40" and
weigh around 170 pounds. There are discounts on multiple orders; contact us to find
out more.
Set a goal not a wish
It is very easy to cross out certain items off your spending list as the day approaches,
mostly because of the lack of funds. Right from the beginning, decide whether or not
you really want an ice carving and hold to that decision. Always save a little more than
your budget (about 10 % or more) and stay away from impulsive spending so that you
can plan within budget. Don't sell your self short anywhere to prevent you from
realizing your dream day. Set deadlines for all your goals and stay on track. Don't buy
anything without reviewing your written and budgeted goals in your hands.
A deposit will be required at the time of the agreement to hold the date, to start the
design process and to make purchases. Most of the time, it is non-refundable, because
the work process begins.
Have your event information ready for us. For example:
- What is the event?
- Date of the event
- Starting and ending times of the event
- Event venue information
- Is it an indoor or outdoor event?
- Is it a big or a small event - how many people?
- Name, phone number and e-mail address of your contact person. Please see
'Your Contact Person' below.
- If it applies, name, phone number and e-mail address of the florist for the function.
Your Contact Person
You should have someone in charge other than you
The role of your contact person is crucial. On one hand, he or she is either the functions
coordinator, food and beverage director of the venue or some professional in that capacity
who can make sound, executive decisions on your part concerning the function. Usually, you
are paying that person for the services he or she is providing, and so your contact person
works hard to gain your trust for future business. It is important to us for him or her to be
present when the ice carvings arrive for set-up, to make sure no last minute changes have
been made concerning the location for the ice carvings or the set-up flowers from the
florist.
On the other hand, you may choose to have for example, a non-catered event where
"non-professionals", usually a friend or a family member may be in charge. It's very
important that you choose a contact person you know you can count on.
Communicate regularly with us
Your next step is to contact us and we'll be more than glad to start working with you. Open
and timely dialog is highly encouraged either by phone or email.
